The Kenya
National Rally Championship is recognized as one of the toughest and most
challenging rallying series anywhere in the world.
In amongst the midst of the series are the Safari and Equator rallies which
are both regarded as the toughest in their respective International
Championships with the Safari counting towards the World Rally Championship
and the Equator towards the African Rally Championship.
The KNRC is sponsored by Shell/Helix with a 20-minute televised program
being aired on KTN after each event. The result of two years regular
television coverage has been to greatly improve public awareness of rallying
in the country and slowly but surely, the interest that the old Safari rally
used to evoke is being revitalized.
Being successful on the Kenyan circuit guarantees that the drivers will be
formidable challengers anywhere else in the world.
